Matty Cilissen, Chief Conductor

Matty Cilissen (Bilzen, 1976) got his first musical education at the age of six. He was educated at the Academy for Music in Eisden-Maasmechelen, where he studied flute, piano and chamber music. He continued his education at the Music Acadamies of Brussels, Gent, Antwerp, Maastricht and Leuven, where he graduated in four Master Certificates. In 2005, he got his Master Degree at the Lemmens-Institute as Conductor of Symfonic Orchestra (Cum Laude). MattyCilissenAt the age of 25, Matty Cilissen was appointed as conductor of the wind band K.H. Sainte C√©cile Eijsden (the Netherlands) and in 2004 at the K.H. Sint Cecilia Maasbracht (the Netherlands). He was guest-director at the National Orchestra of Belgium, Symphonic Factory, the Royal Military Band of the Dutch Airforce, the “Rundfunkblasorchester Leipzig” and the German “Bl√§serphilharmonie Sud-West”. In 2007, Matty Cilissen gained the highest results with the admission for Chief Conductor at the Belgian Army, and in March 2008 he was appointed Chief Conductor of the Military Band of the Belgian Navy. Since April 2008 Matty Cilissen is Chief Conductor of the Philips Harmonie.
